Al Areen Development The unique Al Areen development that costs over $1.3 billion and spread over an area of 2 million square meters furthers Bahrain's reputation as a friendly destination for family and health-oriented tourists. The development is a 35-minute drive from the Bahrain International Airport, 25 minutes away from the city centre of Manama and 20 minutes away from King Fahad causeway. It is adjacent to the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), the Middle East's first ever Grand Prix circuit and the Al Areen Wildlife Sanctuary.

The mission of the Al Areen development project is to transform its distinctive desert location area into a diversified range of residential, commercial, health and hospitality, and entertainment components. Major components of the development include the Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort, The “”Lost Paradise of Dilmun” Water Park, Sarab Al Areen, Domina Prestige - Al Areen, Al Waha Resort, Downtown Al Areen, Al Areen Medical Centre, Oryx Hills, Sunset Hills, Al Areen Homes, and a number of residential villages, entertainment and recreational facilities.
Infrastructure Infrastructure works for the Al Areen Development Project, one of the largest projects of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain, is moving forward according to schedule.
The efficiency of the project’s pace reflects Al Areen’s commitment to on-schedule delivery and to meeting its obligation towards its developers and customers. So far, 50% of the infrastructure is complete. The entire infrastructure for the project is expected to be finalized towards the end of 2009, which includes installation of all utilities, including drainage, water and water storms, electricity cables, as well as the roads themselves.
History In July 2004, the Al Areen Holding Company was established as a joint stock closed company owned by the government of Bahrain, Gulf Finance House B.S.C., and strategic regional investors. Numerous individuals work as a team to bring to reality the vision of Al Areen.
Countless contributions from private and institutional entities combined with strong backing from the government of Bahrain shaped Al Areen into a prestigious development of national impact. Besides boosting the inflow of international visitors into Bahrain, Al Areen will significantly stimulate foreign investments in the Kingdom’s tourism sector.
